News From Cincinnati PRSA
Cincinnati PRSA hosted an event on May 24, 2023, focused on accessibility and inclusion in PR. Panelists emphasized the importance of in-person support, accessible spaces, and inclusive communication. They encouraged active voice, good storytelling, and using preferred language. ALT text, "Read Aloud" features, and involving people with disabilities in content review were recommended for accessibility. Inclusion "nothing about us without us" was a recurring theme. Panelists provided valuable resources for promoting accessibility and inclusion.
As communicators, we depend upon a literate society to process and act on the messages we send. This year, the Cincinnati chapter of PRSA will support literacy efforts in our own backyard with something that’s very simple but much needed – a book drive for Queen City Book Bank (QCBB) at our Media Day event on April 25.
These days, anyone can start a blog, podcast, Facebook group, or email a press release. It’s easier than ever to send a message to the masses, so professional communicators must learn how to cut through the noise so important messages rise to the top.
The public relations profession lost a true original and trailblazer when Judith Bogart-Meredith, APR, Fellow PRSA passed away recently.
Hello, and welcome to 2022 from Cincinnati PRSA! It’s a new year full of exciting possibilities, and while the same challenges of the last few years persist, I’m also hopeful that it will be the year that we’re able to reconnect, re-engage, and come together as a chapter once again.
It’s hard to believe that we are wrapping up the year already and heading into the holiday season. As I finish up my term as President of the Cincinnati Chapter of PRSA, I’d like to say thank you to each of you - our members.
