Remote (In) Control: Your Ultimate Guide to Leading Virtual Teams

Join Cincinnati PRSA and IABC Greater Cincinnati for the leadership professional development event of 2023, presented by Scooter Media

Gallup published a study of more than 8,000 remote-capable workers to learn what they prefer, what they see as the future, and what they plan to do if their company changes directions.

Fifty-six percent said their job can be done remotely today, and only 20% said they believe entirely on-site will remain a valid strategy, down from 60% in 2019. Only 6% said they want to work entirely on-site. That means 94% of employees surveyed want a more flexible strategy.

As business leaders in recent years, we have evolved how we manage our in-house and agency teams in a virtual environment. We’ve had to learn new techniques to communicate with our teams, give more grace, and redefine how we balance our personal and professional lives.

Recent data suggests that employees who trust their managers, teammates, and leaders are more likely to absorb organizational change. One way to establish trust is to be more transparent about previously undocumented work expectations.

Designing a set of norms to set boundaries around work expectations and generate buy-in from your teams will show leadership, demonstrate that you care about their well-being, and ultimately see a reduction in employee turnover, which will positively impact your firm, consultancy, or company.

Mark Mohammadpour, APR, Fellow PRSA, who led remote and hybrid global account teams at Edelman and Weber Shandwick, will deliver relatable, practical, and immediately actionable steps for leaders and emerging leaders to prioritize well-being and run well-engaged hybrid and virtual teams.

A must-attend session for current and future leaders! Together we’ll learn:

  • How to lead a remote/hybrid team that balances business priorities with personal well-being.

  • The one technique that will keep your team engaged and bought into your leadership approach.

  • Seven steps to building long-lasting partnerships with your team that will pay off for the rest of your career.

Speaker:

Mark Mohammadpour, APR, Fellow PRSA (he/him)

Owner and Chief Well-being Officer, Chasing the Sun

Filling the News Void

Filling the News Void

Organizations throughout the Cincinnati region and across the state are looking to revitalize local journalism and are focused on telling the stories of their communities. For public relations practitioners, working with trustworthy, engaged and ethical journalists to tell our clients’ stories is crucial. A more diversified, localized news environment and renewed interest in public trust and quality journalism are top of mind for both PR pros and journalists in the region.

During this session, we'll:

  • Hear from local new organizations that are taking matters into their own hands to start to fill the news void throughout the region.

  • Understand how the different neighborhoods and communities in the Cincinnati region consume news differently.

  • Learn how PR practitioners can better localize their stories and build relationships with community news outlets to reach more targeted, engaged audiences.

Lunch will be provided!

So how do public relations practitioners cope? In August, there is World Mental Health Day and there’s no better time to think about how we’re caring for ourselves.

Podcast guesting is growing fast as a way for your clients to get the word out.

Plenty of solo PR and agency professionals are having success with getting placements on podcasts but it's still a black box for many. Rephonic makes it easy to find the right podcasts for any niche, see how many listeners they're pulling, and get their contacts.

Rephonic is offering a 40 percent monthly discount (forever!) for all new subscriptions exclusively to everyone who attends this event.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
